Things about Cappagh

Cappagh Loan Company

Barracktown House, was built to house the caretaker of Altmore Barracks, Patrick Shields. His wife was a daughter of Henry Morris, Sheriff of Tyrone. It is told that they first met when he saved her from a drowning accident on his return from supporting King James II in the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. It would otherwise have been unusual for a Catholic to be given this responsibility at a military establishment at that time.
It is this house and barracks that we intend to develop. They have been in a derelict state since the 1970’s but still very appealing as they are set in rugged countryside surrounded by mature trees. When completed this project will provide a tourist amenity and tranquil retreat in an area of outstanding beauty on the undulating slopes of the Barrack Hill.
